Publications, Patron Tier Updates, and Other Nonsense

Good Afternoon and Happy Saturday!

Maybe it’s that I live with ADHD, but I always find introducing blog posts awkward. It’s as foreign to me as making small talk. Like asking “how’s the weather?” “how about that hockey team?” “have you checked out X cafe yet” just feels incredibly inauthentic - and that’s literally the last thing I ever want to do to you.

So let’s get right into it!

Publications: Now announcing my second publication of the year!

I’m so proud to announce that one of my favouritest images that I’ve ever taken in the whole world was published in Issue 54 of Bare Bones Boudoir Magazine! I was so excited about receiving it that I literally snapped a picture of it on top of the packaging it was shipped to me in. Lol.

I think that I’m going to make open-face shadowboxes for both of these publications and hang them in the studio. They’re just so beautiful that it would be great to mount them, but it would also be rad to have the access of flipping through pages.

What do you think?

Patron Updates

I have made a couple of small adjustments to our monthly subscription services! You’ll notice that I have dropped from 6 tiers to 3. I realized that if it was me trying to make a decision that the number of choices would be overwhelming, so I adjusted it. The tiers that remain: Friends ($5), Benefactor ($25), and Philanthropist ($100).

Please click here to explore your options! The price points remain the same as they always have been <3 The bonus is that they’ve been re-tooled so you get to receive even more fun stuff than before!

New Work

Upcoming Personal Projects

Film is and remains forever my great love, so right now a project I have been focussing on is to show urban landscapes. Given that I am in Vancouver I am exploring juxtaposition of what “urban” looks like when confronted with situations and scenarios that society prefers to remain hidden. In Vancouver, it looks like the Downtown Eastside.

That said, I strive to be ethical in my photography. This project showcases no tents, no people; it doesn’t exploit individuals or exacerbate trauma. This is not a project pointing out poverty, addiction, or trauma p*rn. What I merely want to do is show the landscape as it presently exists. So what I have been doing to ensure that I am minimally interfering within the social contexts of some of the most marginalized is to photograph before 8:00am in the morning, before people are awake. I’ll be developing two rolls of film this weekend — so hopefully there are some good results!

That’s all for now!
